Equal healthcare
Everyone should have access to equal quality health and medical care. RFSU focuses on improving sexual and reproductive healthcare for especially marginalized groups, particularly those who experience racism.
There are huge discrepancies in access to sexual and reproductive health services within and between countries. Groups with the least access include poor women and girls, adolescents, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ persons, indigenous groups and ethnic/racial minorities.
Achieving equal healthcare in Sweden
These are examples of how RFSU is working towards achieving equal healthcare in Sweden.
- RFSU is dedicated to training healthcare professionals in anti-racism and equitable treatment, often in partnership with other organisations in Sweden (such as Vårdförbundet.)
- The RFSU clinic is expanding its efforts to identify and serve new target groups in need of sexual and reproductive health care.
- Furthermore, RFSU is distributing informational materials and films on sexual health in various languages to healthcare settings. Currently, there are 17 films available on topics such as sex, the body, and health, offered in 16 different languages.
UHC an entry point for RFSU's global work
Universal Health Coverage (UHC) ensures quality health services for all without discrimination or financial burden. UHC plays a key role in advancing sexual and reproductive rights. In RFSU's international strategy, RFSU employs UHC as a key tactic to enhance the availability and standard of sexual and reproductive health services. Additionally, RFSU is supporting civil society and related movements that are pursuing this through policy influence, implementation and monitoring.
