Membership terms
Here you can find information on how RFSU handles your personal data in connection with membership of RFSU.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regulates how and when personal data can be processed. As a member of the RFSU, your personal data is processed in the RFSU's membership register, which is necessary for the performance of the agreement between the RFSU and you as a member. Existing members have been informed about the processing of personal data when signing up for membership.
We are committed to ensuring that the privacy of our members continues to be protected in accordance with the new legislation. The RFSU therefore complies with the requirements that the handling and processing of personal data is carried out legally, correctly and transparently. We process the personal data that the purpose requires, and work with data minimisation and storage minimisation.

Personal data protection
RFSU – the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (org.nr 802002-8133), hereinafter referred to as "RFSU", is the data controller for the processing of our members' personal data. Information on how to contact us can be found under the heading Contact us.
What personal data is recorded?
Name, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address, personal identity number or date of birth, possible gender identity, local association affiliation, membership category, mailings and membership fee payments are information we need to fulfil our responsibility towards you as a member of a democratically constituted public movement.
Information on positions of trust, other forms of involvement and training courses completed is recorded where this information is available, as is information on donations made. If you as a member choose to terminate your membership, your personal data that enables a link to you as a natural person is deleted, but membership number, postcode/postal code, age, gender identity and local association are saved for statistical and financial accounting purposes.
The purging of personal data is done annually, or immediately upon receipt of a request to be removed as a member or donor.
Purpose
Data from the membership register is used only within the framework of the RFSU's activities at local and national level, as well as through partners engaged by the RFSU for the distribution of information. For example, for: membership newsletters, annual meeting notices, membership magazines, gift letters, email and SMS mailing lists and financial transactions. The RFSU does not resell data from the membership register to third parties.
Anyone who believes that the RFSU has not taken the requested action with their personal data has the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Inspectorate, which is the supervisory authority.
Providing the RFSU with the requested personal data is a requirement for being granted, or allowed to renew, membership of the RFSU. Anyone who does not provide the requested personal data runs the risk that the application for, or renewal of, membership may not be granted.
Updated contact details
RFSU members have their address details updated monthly via SPAR, the State Personal Address Register. Each year, the RFSU and our local associations send out several mailings to you as a member and if we do not have up-to-date address details, you will lose the opportunity to receive important information about your membership and the activities of the RFSU.
In order to ensure that as many people as possible feel safe and receive an accurate and good service from the membership register, the RFSU will never change or update given first names or unencrypted gender information via SPAR. Data that will be updated via SPAR are postal address and surname.
If you do not want your data to be updated at all against SPAR, you are responsible for notifying medlem@rfsu.se. The updating of first names is an important issue as many RFSU members do not use the first name registered in the population register and it is essential for the RFSU that our members are addressed in the desired way. If there is an error in future mailings, please contact us so that we can rectify this.
Who has access to the membership register?
Persons responsible for membership management at national level administer the membership register at national level, the membership officer at local level has a limited responsibility to administer the membership register of the local association concerned.
All administrators and users who have access to the membership register have agreed to terms of use which state that they must not pass on personal data from the membership register and that they must process the data in accordance with the applicable legislation. Access is strictly limited to the area of responsibility.
Your rights
You have the right to request access to and rectification or deletion of your personal data from the RFSU.
